Volunteer Parent Policy
The Bozeman Figure Skating Club is a non-profit organization run by volunteers. It takes many parents like you to help operate BFSC. To ensure the continued success of BFSC and its programs each skating family is required to volunteer throughout the year with ongoing club fundraising, administration, and events. Did you know that the BFSC ice packages only cover about 29% of the program costs? Your volunteering will help assist in keeping ice costs affordable for everyone. Volunteering

Volunteer FAQ’s:
- Our family has more than one eligible skater in the BFSC; do we have a volunteer commitment for each skater?
No, the requirement is per family, but additional volunteering is always encouraged. - After I complete my hours, when to do I get my refund?
The deposit will be returned at the end of the session if the volunteer requirements have been met in full, or you can opt to hold it for the next package instead of writing another check. Refunds will be then made in June. If requirements are not met, the deposit will be cashed prior to the participant being allowed to purchase a new session package or be allowed on the ice. - I’ve completed my hours; can I donate the $100.00 deposit?
Yes, we greatly appreciate donations, and your donated $100.00 deposit is tax deductible if you’ve completed your hours. - How do I track my participation?
Email the BFSC Secretary the details of the events you volunteered for prior to the session ending. At the end of the session a final volunteer list will be consolidated and posted. Parents will be responsible for finding their own substitute if they are unable to fulfill their commitment. - Why do we have this policy?
There is an enormous amount of work required to run a figure skating club. With the continued support of the membership, BFSC will continue to grow and develop as a premier figure skating club. - Why do I have to volunteer if my child is not participating in shows or competitions?
Fundraising (including supporting the Learn to Skate program) benefits all members and keeps fees low. - Why can’t the club just hire someone to do these tasks?
The club attempts to be affordable. Paying someone to do all the work involved would cost a great deal and to cover Ice Package costs would go up in order to cover those costs. - How do I get involved?
To volunteer, contact any member of our board. Ask questions if you don’t understand something.
